Jacob Lowery joined us to share about the spiritual transformation he has experienced since he joined a Home Church 2 years ago.

He began by explaining how he felt like he was coming to church by himself and always sat in the back row.

“At that time in my life, I didn’t have a lot of friends, and I felt like God was telling me that [way], you’re not going to grow. During that time I was dealing with some different struggles, some things that have been plaguing me for several years.”

Jacob signed up to join his group and felt an immediate connection with a community.

“Getting involved in this home church has given me a place where I can be honest about those struggles,” Jacob shared. “I never felt like I had to hide anything or be ashamed, and it really gave me a place where I could open up.”

Jacob saw transformation in himself and those around him.

“When I didn’t have to be ashamed and keep those struggles to myself, and I was able to share them, and then in turn see other people encouraged by me opening up and see them open up.”

It just kind of became a strong knit friendship where we were growing together and learning how to let go of our past and get closer to God through that.

Jacob added that feeling like he was able to experience acceptance and lack of judgement, he didn’t have to feel ashamed because he could be honest and grow.

“It really kind of made me feel like I wanted to do that for other people as well. It started in our home church where I’m able to pray for people around me, and it has extended out past to people who are not in my home church, to strangers.”

“Because I have experienced that, I can give it to others. It’s not something I have ever experienced before.”
