The need is great, and the reward is greater than anything you can imagine.

Felix and Staci Maull shared about how they serve with their Home Church group of ten years. Several times per year, they provide “Pasta and Prayer” at Renewal Ranch, a faith-based residential addiction recovery program for over sixty men ages 21 and older.

Felix said, “When we first went out, we were apprehensive. We were going out with all these men we don’t know.”

“And the minute you sit down and you start sharing your life with them, you realize: you’re all the same. They’re broken, you’re broken. You share a common bond. We’re all vessels of Christ.”

Staci and Felix shared the story of a man who went from a wheelchair to walking. “He doesn’t even look like the same guy who was in the program.”

The Maulls explained the biggest impact has been on the men in the program and the Home Church members, saying the reward is greater than anything imaginable.

“When we sit down and pray with them, it’s a release. Things that we may have gone through that week, things that we may have hidden inside. You can be totally honest. You can be open, and they listen to you and earnestly want to pray for you.”

“You can share your life with them, your walk, your missteps. You can give them encouragement.”

When speaking about mentoring, Felix said, “I can tell you it was a humbling experience for me because I had to release things in my life.... I had to let the Lord convict me of things in my life. He’s out of the program now and working in Little Rock. We still talk about once per week. It is a powerful program.”
