Home Church Questions

1. Mark 2:21-22 reveals it is a new day because Jesus has come. What are some ways Jesus brings newness? Are there any areas of your life where you need a fresh start?

2. Why does Jesus use the imagery of a wedding and a Bridegroom in vv.18-20? What are some lessons we can learn from this?

3. Jesus is critical of the traditionalism of the religious leaders. What is the difference between tradition and traditionalism? Do you tend toward the extreme of traditionalism or anti-tradition?

4. How had the religious leaders missed the heart of the Sabbath command in vv.23-28? What are some ways we miss the heart of God’s good commands?

5. How does the Lord of the Sabbath provide the deep rest that we crave (v.28)? Why is it difficult for us to experience this deep rest?

6. What does it look like for us to strive to enter His rest (Heb 4:11)? In what area of your life do you struggle to rest in Christ? What would it look like for you to strive to enter His rest in this area?

7. What truth did you learn about God in this week’s message?

8. How are you encouraged or challenged by this passage?

9. What is one step of obedience you will take this week?

Missions Focus

UPG FOCUS: The Ahmadi in India
The Ahmadi people of India number around 78,000 and are a Muslim sect with no known evangelical believers. Established in the late 1800s, the Ahmadiyya movement follows the teachings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, whom they believe to be the promised Messiah. While they are active in religious outreach, they face rejection and persecution from other Muslim communities. Pray that the Ahmadi would encounter the true hope found in Jesus Christ, that they would seek truth through Scripture, and that God would raise up Ahmadi followers of Christ who boldly share the gospel and lead others into faith.
