Following Christ: Those Who Sat Around Him - Mark 3:20-35
Home Church Questions
1. Jesus makes radical claims that demand a response. What are some examples of claims He makes that don’t allow for a neutral response?
2. Explain what Jesus says in v.27. How should this verse impact how we think of Jesus and His work?
3. What is the “unforgiveable sin” in vv.28-30? How would you encourage someone who was concerned he/she was guilty of this?
4. Do you know of someone in your life who is openly opposed to Jesus? If yes, how are you engaging them with the Gospel? If no, how can you be involved in the lives of people who don’t know Christ?
5. How does Jesus’ family respond to Him in vv.20-21 & 31-32? Why do they respond this way?
6. What are some ways we subtly resist Jesus? In what way are you tempted to say, “I will follow Jesus, but . . . ?” Why do you think Mark views this kind of response in a way that is related to the opposition we see in
vv.22-30?
7. Explain what Jesus means in vv.33-35. What are some truths or lessons we can learn from this? What does it look like for you to “do the will of God” (v.35) right now?
8. What truth did you learn about God in this week’s message?
9. How are you encouraged or challenged by this passage?
10. What is one step of obedience you will take this week?
Mission Focus
UPG FOCUS: The Drukpa in Bhutan
The Drukpa people of Bhutan number around 227,000 and are deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhism, with
less than 1% following Christ. Living primarily in the mountainous regions of Bhutan, India, and Nepal, the
Drukpa have a strong cultural identity tied to their language, traditions, and Buddhist heritage. Although some have come to faith in Jesus, many believers face family rejection, social pressure, and hardship. Pray that the Holy Spirit would strengthen Drukpa believers, that disciples would multiply among their communities, and that the Drukpa people would encounter the hope and truth of Jesus Christ.
