Submission to the Authority of God’s Word - Swindoll

Introduction: “It’s about the people. Stupid!”

Slaves: Integrity for the Sake of Witness (6:1-2)

Everyone—regardless of station in life—should live as a winsome witness.

    • Honor those in authority over you (6:1).

    • Honor believers in authority because they are brothers (6:2).

      • Don’t take advantage of the situation.

      • Take advantage of the opportunity.

False Teachers Again: Bad Character and Greedy Motives (6:3-5)

False teachers are known by what they say and how they live.

    • The Test of Content - Sound Doctrine (6:3).

    • The Test of Character - Conceit, Controversy, Chaos (6:4-5).

      • They are full of smoke (τυφόω) rather than knowledge.

      • They major (νοσέω - sick thinking) on the minors, resulting in disunity.

      • They stir up strife (διεφθαρμένω - moral corruption).

      • They are looking to make a profit (πορισμός - procuring gain).

A Proper Perspective: Godliness with Contentment is Valuable (6:6-10)

The fight for the gospel is worthy of intensity and integrity.

    • Principle: Godliness with Contentment is Valuable (6:6).

    • Proof: You begin and end at the same place—empty-handed (6:7-8).

    • Problem: The love of money is the root of all evils (6:9-10).

God has designed the church to be a place where sound doctrine

results in a Christian life characterized by winsome integrity, godliness, and contentment.

Fellowship College Ministry

College Students! You are invited to check out the College Ministry (18-22) at Fellowship Bible Church! We want to journey through life and faith together- equipping you with Biblical knowledge and tools to grow, connect, and belong here. We gather Thursday evenings (6:30pm) for worship and Wednesday afternoons (1-5pm) for coffee. See Andrew in the Atrium after service.

New to Fellowship?
We are so glad that you chose to worship with our Fellowship Family this morning. If you are joining us for the first time or have been checking us out for a few weeks, we are excited you are here and would love to meet you. Please fill out the “Connect Card” and bring it to the Connection Center in the Atrium, we would love to say “hi” and give you a gift.

Join a Home Church
Home Church small groups are about building a deep community where we are transformed into the image of Christ and serve a broken world for the sake of the gospel.  All of this takes place through fellowship, engaging the Word, praying together, and serving alongside one another.  If you are not in a Home Church, we encourage you to come talk with Michael at the Home church kiosk after service.

During this time, you will meet some of our ministry leaders and get to ask questions.  Register at fellowhipconway.org/register.

Equipping Opportunities
Fellowship’s Equipping Ministry exists to equip and release our church body to deepen their understanding and experience of God & His word, develop genuine, Spirit-led living, and consistently invest in making disciples.  Check out this Fall’s opportunities at Fellowshipconway.org/equipping.
