The Nature of False Teaching (1 Timothy 4:1-5)

•Source: Demonicly Inspired, Hypocritical Liars (4:1-2)
The ultimate source of false teaching is Satan deceiving teachers.

•Content: Unnecessary and Ungrateful Abstinence (4:3)
False teaching limits the gracious provision of God with rules.

•Corrective: The Grace of God, The Word of God, and Prayer (4:4-5)
Prayerful believers find the grace of God’s freedom in His Word.

The Proper Response to False Teaching (1 Timothy 4:6-16)

Step #1: Identify & Disassociate (4:6-8)
- Know the truth well enough to identify error (6).
- Focus on godliness rather than controversies (7).
- Investing in godliness pays off now and in the future (8).

Step #2: Hope in God (4:9-10)
- Everyone should acknowledge that God is the source of true hope (9).
- Our hope is in the living God who saves all who believe (10).

Step #3: Command & Teach (4:11-14)
- Teach with authority (11).
- Live an exemplary life (12).
- Stay rooted in Scripture (13). -
- Serve in your SHAPE (14).

Step #4: Be Diligent (4:15-16)
- Clearly exhibit extra-mile dedication (15).
- Consistently prioritize your beliefs and behavior (16).

God has designed the church to battle for sound doctrine
by exposing false teaching and presenting the truth.

Pray specifically that there are no delays, lost luggage, or unexpected layovers on their return flights. We have heard many stories of how God has been moving and are continuing to pray that God draws students to Himself as the team departs.
