Introduction: The Importance of a Succession Plan

  • Moses and Joshua

  • David and Solomon

  • Paul and Timothy

Looking Back: Your Gifts and Calling are True (1:18a)

Every believer must stay true to their calling and gifts.

    • Every believer has been gifted to serve.

    • Gifted service is recognized by others.

Pressing On: The Battle and Message is Real (1:18b-19a)

The fight for the gospel is worthy of intensity and integrity.

    • Fight for the right thing—the gospel truth.

    • Fight in the right way—the integrity of love.

      • Fighting in a Modern World - Power: Truth without Love

      • Fighting in a Post Modern World - Acceptance: Love without Truth

      • Fighting in a Metamodern World - Purpose: Meaning without Truth

The Troublemakers: Hymenaus and Alexander (1:19b-20)

False teachers will be dealt with and ultimately know the truth.

    • False Teachers reject truth: the core doctrines of faith.

    • False Teachers reject Integrity: having a good conscience.

    • Fale Teachers shipwreck their relationship with God.

    • False Teachers will ultimately know the truth.

God has designed the church to battle for sound doctrine
with a clear conscience expressed in integrity and love.

Mission Prayer Focus: The Jebala in Morocco
Numbering around 1.31 million, they are traditionally Muslim. Most have never heard a clear gospel message, and any decision to follow Christ comes with high personal cost. The Scripture and the Jesus Film are available. Pray for open hearts and for churches to be planted that spark gospel movements in their region.
