The team bonded last night with evening of storytelling. The power had gone off at the hotel, so there was no lights, wifi, or air conditioning. To add to the excitement, many of us felt tremors from the earthquake that was centered at northern border of Nicaragua (we are in the south).
This morning, work continued at the feeding center. The women, gringas and Nicas, are enjoying daily Bible lessons and crafts. Today several ladies shared beautiful stories of God’s healing powers in their lives. The children especially enjoyed today’s story about Queen Esther. The drama starred Queen Esther, played by Karis Martin, King Xerxes (Adlee Watkins), and Mordecai (Hannah Martin). Lydia and Tabitha Martin and Sam Watkins did great with supporting roles. The kids loved when Todd Watkins and Chuck Martin snuck in with a hand saw to attempt to murder the queen!! The guys are making progress on several projects around the feeding center.
God has put together a team with a wide variety of skills and it is incredible to watch His work being done in so many different ways. Please pray for continued health for our team as well as healing for a some of the Nicas. Unfortunately, Ana was not feeling well today and spent the day in bed. There was also a young girl with a fever yesterday, but she was much better today.
– Loi, for there Team
At the Bible Institute today we had a great time. 120 pastors and church leaders have gathered and are full of excitement and enthusiasm. I think the fact that we are teaching on Preparing and delivery biblical messages has brought pastors out of the jungle down here. Yesterday was mostly teaching and today was mostly examples. We told them how to do it and today we showed them how to do it. The best part of the day for me was after Melvin preached a fantastic sermon on Jonah chapter 1. After the message we made a book available (We made it available for sale ($2) which we never do down here. We usually give away as many resources as possible). The book was presented as, “This is the book that Melvin has used to be trained to preach like he just did.” There was almost a riot to get to the books. I have attached a picture of the event.
