Monday was a good day. We got off to a great start in all our ministries. The Bible Institute had 82 pastors and church leaders there and we jumped right into our material- the truth and authority of God’s Word. Jim is able to teach most of his sessions in spanish without a translator these days. Pretty cool. It looks like that year at language school is paying off. I’m sure that we’ll pick up a few more people over the next few days. It is good to see so many familiar faces come back to our institute time and time again.
The crews at Ana’s are doing great work. Some of the ladies got to go see the dump 2 blocks down from Ana’s place. The conditions that these young kids are living in is rough, so we are looking forward to giving them a bright spot this week, through food, games and God’s love and hope centered in Christ. We had around 75 children come plus about 13 mothers. The team did songs, Bible stories, crafts, and games with them and it was a hit! Ana has had some people come down and help her, but never a team come to a VBS type focused time with the kids. While, the kids were listening to the bible stories a few of our ladies did a lesson for the moms and they made a craft with scripture on it that they could hang up somewhere. The moms seemed to really enjoy it. There were lots of smiles on children and moms. Calvin, Bonny, Ashley, Sharon, Kristie, are doing an amazing job. Shannon Ana’s feeding center is a former bar that has been converted to a feeding center . As they just hung out and played there I realized that this place truly is a refuge for them. It is a place of joy, hope, and safety in the midst of a hard life. We are blessed to get to serve here.
The guys doing the projects are hard at work too. Todd and Mark have been trouble shooting a broken water pump. Robert Burks is completely in his element working with a few Nicaraguans building the storage building our of concrete blocks where we hope to store the Feed My Starving Meals food that we get for Ana to serve the kids. Tommy is pitching in everywhere. Jim Alexander is expediting and painting with Wayne, Austin and Tyler.
Please be in prayer for Christina. Christina is a 23 year old girl from Lithuania that has been couch surfing through central america for months. Through a friend of Ana’s she shoed up at Ana’s wanting to work with her in exchange for a bed and good. Christina is not a believer, but God keeps putting her in believers home’s and she is really asking some great questions. She is now reading the bible and knows that God doing something in her life. She has commented several times how glad she is that we are here and that she can work and interact with us. God is clearly working in her heart. Please pray for Christina to come to know him.
